Mundane Monday #26

We thought we'd do something a little different today. To celebrate the upcoming release of The Clockwork Angel we're going to post a little teaser from I.D. You can find the link to read more of the excerpt in the post below.

“Will!” Tessa called to him, though she wasn’t sure if he could hear her over the din. “Will —”

Something seized her by the back of her dress and hauled her up and backwards; it was like being caught in the talons of an enormous bird. Tessa screamed once, and found herself flung forward, skidding across the boards of the stage. She hit the stack of chairs; they crashed to the floor in a deafening mass and Tessa, sprawled among the mess, looked up with a gasp of pain.

The Russian vampire, Alexei, stood over her. His black eyes were wild, rimmed with red; his white hair straggled over his face in matted clumps, and his shirt was slashed open across the front, the edges of the tear soaked with blood. He must have been cut, though not deep enough to kill him, and had healed: the skin under the torn shirt looked unmarked now.

City of Fallen Angels NEWS!

We are so excited about this news, that Cassie has posted via her website-

City of Fallen Angels will be released worldwide in English in March, 2011.

I usually post excerpts of upcoming books on the website about eight months before publication. In the case of City of Fallen Angels, it's going to be a little different: the American paperback of City of Glass will be released on August 3, 2010, and it will contain a full chapter of City of Fallen Angels in it, as well as a full chapter of Clockwork Angel, the first book in the Mortal Instruments prequel series The Infernal Devices, which is going to be released August 31, 2010. (Since there is no special paperback release date in the UK/Aus/NZ, Clockwork Angel, when released there in August/September, will contain the full chapter of City of Fallen Angels.)

Until the release date of the paperback of Glass, I'm embargoed (forbidden) from sharing excerpts of Fallen Angels, but you can find an excerpt of Clockwork Angel here! Remember, the correct order to read the Shadowhunter books is in publication order—characters from Clockwork Angel show up in Mortal Instruments 4, and it will make better sense to you if you've started CA already. You don't have to read CA—both series are totally comprehensible on their own, and neither spoils the other—but in much the same way that reading The Magician's Nephew is more fun if you've read The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, reading City of Fallen Angels is more fun if you've read The Clockwork Angel first!
