Holiday #Readathon: Mini Challenge & Enter To Win!

I'm so thrilled to be participating in this year's Holiday Readathon hosted by the lovely Liza at WhoRuBlog. Liza's #Readathon will run from December 5-December 7th. With a variety of blogs and book fans participating in the weekend event, there are a lot of opportunities for book fans to enter the challenges as well as enter to win some amazing prizes. Be sure to head over to HERE to find out more and to sign up!

I'm not able to take part in the readalong this year, as my son had a regional football tournament in Houston this weekend, but I am hosting a mini challenge and a giveaway. My challenge is to Pay It Forward With An Act of Kindess! Since I'm a little late in posting my mini-challenge, readers have till Monday night to pay it forward.

To kick off the PAY IT FORWARD with Act of Kindness challenge, here is what I'll be doing this week: I am donating items (food for their food pantry, hygiene items, gently used/new clothes, new toys, and a ton of books) to Safe Place here in Austin, TX. It's a women's & children's shelter, which helps victims of domestic abuse. They are always in need of so many items.

Your pay it forward can be little or big. Some suggestions include:
  • Donate a book to a charity, library, children's hospital, shelter etc.
  • Buy drink a drink for the next person in line
  • Give a warm meal to someone in need
  • Donate a toy to a local toy drive
  • Donate canned goods / food to a food drive or food shelter
  • Donate new/gently used closed to a shelter
  • Volunteer at a shelter (food serving shelter, homeless shelter, pet shelter)
  • Bring some holiday cheer to those living in a nursing home
  • Spread the holiday cheer at a children's hospital
There are a lot of ways you can participate in the PAY IT FORWARD ACT OF KINDNESS challenge. Nothing is too great or too little. To those who participate or commit to doing an act of kindness this week, I'm giving away a 2015 YA book of their choice.

ENTER TO WIN *please read*
To enter to win a 2015 book of your choice (not to exceed $20), leave me a comment either in the entry form or here on the blog letting me know what you did or are committed to doing. This is the honor system, so please be honest in what you've done. :) This is OPEN INTERNATIONALLY (as long as The Book Depository ships to your county. Cost of book can not exceed $20). Giveaway ends at midnight on Monday December 8th.

    1. That sounds like a great program, Natalie! Is that a local thing confined to where you are? I'd love to find something like that where I live. Thanks!

  6. I gave up my $25 Target GC today to someone who was trying to buy groceries for her and her kid but didn't have enough and was trying to figure out what to put back :( I've been there. I wish I could have given her more.

I hope to donate a lot of books too! A few will be mailed out this week. A ton more will be given away, locally, after the new year :)

  9. Thank you for this giveaway! I'm planning to donate some books to my local Goodwill this holiday season--but I also love going through the Starbucks drive-through and leaving money for the person behind me--so I'm thinking I'm going to do that at least once this Christmas season!
